THE BOUNTY HUNTERS by Dave Reitz in 2002

"THE CARS WERE LIMITED TO 50 OR SO AND CAME WITH HEADERS ,HOLLEY 4BBL, CAM VALVE SPRINGS, 4SPEED,4.56 8-3/4 AXLE FROM THE PLANT.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE CARS THEY FELL INTO ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF NHRA D-STOCK. THE MUSTANGS HAD A DEFINITE ADVANTAGE IN THE CLASS. THE CARS CAME WAY OVERWEIGHT AND EVEN GETTING TO WEIGH WHAT THE SHIPPING WEIGHT WAS TOOK SOME IMAGINATION.

WE TOOK OUR CAR OFF THE TRUCK AND COMPLETELY DISSASSEMBLED IT THE SAME DAY IT CAME IN AND BY 10:OOPM WE HAD ABOUT 275 LBS OUT OF IT. THEN WE LOOKED AT MOVING WEIGHT AROUND FOR BETTER WEIGHT TRANSFER. WE TOOK THE ENGINE OUT TO THE ALLOWED .030 OVER DID A CAREFUL BLUEPRINT AND PUT IT ALL TOGETHER COMPLETE WITH 5.12 REAR GEARS.

RESULTS WERE VERY GOOD CARDING THE QUIKEST AND FASTEST TIMES FOR THESE CARS IN THAT ERA. THE ENEMY WAS STILL THE MUSTANG AND WE FOUND THERE WERE A FEW WE JUST COULDNT HANDLE. HOWEVER ALL IN ALL WE HAD A GOOD TIME WITH THE CAR TAUGHT A COUPLE OF GUYS HOW TO DRIVE 4 SPEED CARS."
